Case Note & Summary
The petitioners, nine students, filed a writ petition seeking a direction to respondent no.2 (the examining body) to declare their results for the second and final year of the D.Ed. course and release their marksheets. They were admitted under the Scheduled Tribe category during the academic year 2001-2002. Their caste certificates were pending verification by the Scrutiny Committee. The court noted that the admission was not in dispute and that the students had completed the course. The court held that the students should not be made to suffer due to the pendency of the verification process. It directed respondent no.2 to declare the results and issue marksheets within four weeks, subject to the final decision of the Scrutiny Committee. The writ petition was disposed of with no order as to costs.
