Nature of Litigation

Writ petitions under Articles 226 and 227 of the Constitution of India challenging the notifications issued by the State Government reserving certain wards for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, and Women in various municipal corporations and councils across Karnataka.

Remedy Sought

To quash the impugned notifications regarding reservation of wards and to direct the authorities to reserve the wards as per draft notifications or for general category.

Filing Reason

The petitioners were aggrieved by the final notification of ward reservations, allegedly altering the reservations from the draft notification, thereby affecting their right to contest elections from those wards.
